Silk pajamas are the ideal choice to stay cozy and look chic this winter

It’s true that January isn’t much to say about it aside from it being the ideal opportunity to get a pair of silk pajamas. It doesn’t have to be pure silk – crepe de chine satin, crepe de chine, and just a tiny bit of polyester are acceptable.

The key thing is that they should glide and slither across one’s body in a delightful and some might say impractical way. But anyone who would make that claim will be missing the purpose.

The reason silk pajamas are so popular and the reason they’ve held such allure throughout the years is due to their heavy, slippery smoothness and their floating hems, they’re a piece of clothing that takes us away from the humdrum.

What else do you need from a piece of clothing that’s primary purpose is leisure and lounging? Particularly, in the present, when occasions to dress in a suit to go out are few and far between. In silk pajamas or a suit, you can dress to stay in.

It’s pretty easy to conclude that pajamas, regardless of what kind of luxurious fabric or the exotic pattern are the same bright and glaring sexuality as lace underwear. A baggy pair of pants and a baggy shirt even in silk won’t always strike exactly the same way with the red-blooded guy that other, more revealing items might. However, that doesn’t mean all men are averse to them.

I must admit to I’m hankering after the extravagant glam of a feather-trimmed pair of Sleepers I’ve spotted on Net-a-porter and dream of a lavishly patterned set by Olivia von Halle, the queen of luxury PJs.

However, for the moment, I’m in love with the pair my friend gifted me recently, from the slightly more budget-friendly Silkwear catalog Patra. They’re beautiful in a blush-tinted cream, with fine pink silk trim. They have the ability to be lightweight, but not even remotely transparent, not too loose, but also not bulky.

I’ve pottered happily around the house wearing women’s robes during the last few months, but I’m resenting the moment I have to switch them for proper clothes.

They’re the best pair I’ve ever had for sleeping in and then waking up uncreased in the morning, in contrast to the majority of me.
